My work has taken me from the foundations of criminological theory to the frontlines of applied research, where data meets discretion, and where understanding why people do what they do is both a science and an art.</p><p class="ds-markdown-paragraph" style="margin: 16px 0px; color: rgb(15, 17, 21); font-family: quote-cjk-patch, Inter, system-ui, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, &quot;Open Sans&quot;, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif;">I’ve spent much of my career in the classroom as well as the field, mentoring students and professionals who are now shaping policy, leading investigations, and challenging the way we think about safety and rehabilitation. To me, teaching isn’t just about transmitting knowledge—it’s about sparking critical thinking, questioning assumptions, and building a more just system from the ground up.</p><p class="ds-markdown-paragraph" style="margin: 16px 0px; color: rgb(15, 17, 21); font-family: quote-cjk-patch, Inter, system-ui, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, &quot;Open Sans&quot;, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif;">My approach is deeply interdisciplinary. I draw from sociology, psychology, forensic science, and increasingly, data analytics and technology, to better understand crime patterns and the effectiveness of our responses. Behind every statistic is a story—a victim, an offender, a community. My work is rooted in the belief that good criminology doesn’t just diagnose problems; it seeks real, humane, and sustainable solutions. I believe the moment we stop questioning our methods is the moment we stop serving justice. And that’s a lesson I hope to pass on to the next generation of criminologists, one critical question at a time.</p>
